In the afternoon of 26 July, we were asked to take part in a search mission for a young man who had gone missing in Băile Tușnad. The request for CST's involvement came from a relative of the young man. He had last been seen on the morning of Thursday (24 July) in the town of Băile Tușnad, where he was attending a large-scale event. He had already been searched for by the Police, gendarmes, and volunteer teams from Romania and Hungary.
Less than 2 hours after the alert, the CST team of 5 volunteers (Raul, Fulga, Tibi, Oana and Călin) with 4 dogs (Aka, Amir, Inata and Yupi) set off for Harghita at 16:00. After struggling through the last stretch of road (blocked in several places by the Police because of landslides), the team reached its destination around 22:00. After a short briefing, and equipped for a night search, the CST volunteers began searching, accompanied by the local police chief and a few of the young man's relatives and friends. The search continued until 02:30, when it was decided to pause until morning. It resumed the next day at 9:40 and continued until 16:00. Alongside the CST team, volunteer firefighters, the local police, other volunteers and the young man's family and friends also carried out search activities.
At 16:00, having already logged more than 10 hours of active searching in very difficult terrain (dense forest and steep slopes, thick vegetation along the banks of the Olt) without finding any trace of the missing young man, it was decided to call off the CST team's search, so that the team could also cover the 300 kilometres home before nightfall, allowing the volunteers to be back at their day jobs on Monday morning.
