VII. International workshop and contest of cynology teams USAR to Kaznějov, Czech Republic - 21-23 June 2019
On 21-23 June 2019, two Romanians and their dogs headed to the Czech Republic to take part in a 24-hour rubble search exercise. The exercise was held under the aegis of the Czech Ministry of the Interior and was organised by the Search and Rescue Czech Republic team in collaboration with the Czech Red Cross. 11 teams from 4 countries took part, each team made up of two handlers and two dogs. Călin Ciora with Dino, representing the Transylvania Search and Rescue Dogs Association, and Romică Chințoi with Billy, representing Clubul Câinilor Utilitari (the Working Dogs Club), made up Romania's team. They travelled more than 1000 kilometres to reach the exercise site, but that didn't stop them from giving their all for a successful performance. At the end of the 24 hours, after one night search and one day search, Romania's team achieved an extraordinary result, scoring the most points and finishing in 1st place!!! Thank you to the organisers for the invitation, for the incredible location, and for the chance to access a training ground so close to the reality of a disaster. Thank you to Romică and Călin for the way they represented us, and we look forward to having them home to share the experience and knowledge they gained during this exercise!
