In April 2019, members of the Transylvania Search and Rescue Dogs Association took part in the largest multinational exercise aimed at training and evaluating the modular approach of a joint multinational medical support system, as well as training in C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) at every level involved. During the exercise, soldiers played the role of casualties, and medical teams from the Land Forces General Staff carried out initial triage and assigned them according to urgency. They received specialised medical treatment under the close supervision of observers, were stabilised, and were prepared for medical evacuation to specialised medical centres. The CST team supported the rescue effort by finding missing persons with the help of dogs specially trained for search and rescue. The missions involved both victims trapped under rubble and people missing in the wilderness. Once the victims had been located with the help of the dogs, they were handed over to the first-aid medical teams present on site. Vigorous Warrior 19 is the largest multinational NATO exercise with a national focus, held between 1 and 12 April and co-organised by the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine, the Defence Staff, and the Medical Directorate of Romania's Ministry of National Defence (MApN).
